Interview With Nickelodeon's Town Hall Creators: Covid-19 & Our Youth

Morgan VonHaden (Director of SD SFEC), and Pam Lange (Deputy Executive Director of BHSSC) interview Nickelodeon Digital Studios producers! They talk with Nickelodeon executive producer and VP, Luke Wahl, and producer, director–and South Dakotan–Ben Pluimer, about the special broadcast #KidsTogether: The Nickelodeon Town Hall that aired on March 30th. This hour-long special hosted by Kristen Bell answers kids’ questions about COVID-19, social distancing, quarantine, and whether there will be enough toilet paper! The show features celebrities, doctors, and real kids and their families in their homes. Ben and Luke share with SD SFEC’s Morgan VonHaden and Pam Lange why it was so important to them to talk directly to kids about the coronavirus pandemic and share kids’ perspectives. They also give SD SFEC a behind-the-scenes view of how the show came together in just one week, with production being coordinated remotely from homes across the country. Ben Pluimer grew up in Belle Fourche, SD, and is an Emmy-nominated director and writer in Los Angeles. He has directed projects for Amazon, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, and many more.
