The SD Statewide Family Engagement Center is excited to share that we are continuing our partnership with Sean Covel, author of Porter the Hoarder. Schools across South Dakota have been selected to receive FREE books for their first graders as part of a statewide effort to encourage families reading together! The SD Statewide Family Engagement Center (SFEC), a federal statewide grant managed by Black Hills Special Services Cooperative, in partnership with South Dakota Department of Education and SD Parent Connection, will be working with over 100 schools across the state for this project, and we hope yours will be one of them! Porter the Hoarder and the Ransacked Room is a super-engaging, look-and-find book written by Sean Covel, the producer of Napoleon Dynamite and many other films. The goal is to get the book into the hands of thousands of first graders across the state and encourage them to read with their families. Each first grade teacher and the school library will also receive a FREE copy of the book.
